Mayor Menino’s head in a jar! For the 1/21 issue of the Phoenix - Local Experts Predict the Boston of the Future - I had originally commissioned an illustration by the wonderfully talented and funny Michael Kupperman (see it above). However, the editors weren’t satisfied with how it turned out.
Not having time to rework the image or commission a new illo, I took the central concept of Menino still ruling the city as a head in a jar, and created the photo-collage that graces the cover. Also above is an earlier version that was rejected.
